Welcome to little BIG Pet Portraits! This is a blog that tries to help shelter animals and rescue dogs in need of loving homes.
Matt Tames, creator and artist of little BIG Pet Portraits, does paintings and pet portraits of these adoptable pets showing
them in their best light, which hopefully will inspire some people to open their hearts and homes to these animals in need.

Sketches of the Day

It's been a little while since I've had any new portraits posted. There are several in progress and they will be up shortly. In the meantime I have a couple of sketches that I'd like to share.

First is Ali, my parents goofy German Shepherd. She's about 3 and still acts very much like a puppy. When she was a puppy she had the largest ears I had ever seen on a dog. As shepherds grow, their ears will fluctuate between being erect and floppy. Ali's ears had a mind of their own and many times you would see one ear sticking up and the other flopped over the side as she ran by. Now her ears are still huge and that's why one of her nicknames is Batdog.

Another funny dog is the Corgi. My brother and his fiance want to get one in the future. They are small dogs with tons of personality. They love attention and of course getting belly rubs.
